Breaking: Google Cloud Next 2026 Unveils Full-Stack Dart and AI-Powered Flutter Demos
Dart Now Powers Both Frontend and Backend with Firebase Functions Preview
Google Cloud Next 2026 in Las Vegas delivered a major surprise: Dart developers can now write Firebase Functions using the same language they use for their Flutter frontends. The preview marks a significant step toward full-stack Dart development.
“This is a game-changer for Dart developers who want to reduce context switching and speed up their workflow,” said Emma Twersky, Developer Advocate at Google, during the developer keynote. “Combining Dart with Firebase Functions and the Admin SDK lets teams build end-to-end solutions with fewer moving parts.”
Attendees flocked to the Builder Hub, where dedicated booths for Flutter, Firebase, and Go offered hands-on demonstrations. The new Dart Admin SDK was a top draw, promising deeper integration with Firebase services.
Full documentation and a dedicated breakout session are expected at Google I/O later this year.
GenLatte: An AI Coffee Shop Built Entirely with Flutter GenUI
At the center of the expo floor, Google’s “GenLatte” booth reimagined the coffee shop experience using generative UI. Customers ordered specialty lattes through a Flutter app powered by GenUI, and a custom nanobanana image was printed on the foam.
“GenLatte demonstrates how Flutter can create dynamic, agentic interfaces that adapt on the fly,” said Kate Lovett, a Flutter engineer who helped build the demo. “It’s not just a gimmick — it shows the future of mobile and web interactions where agents generate their own UI.”
The booth attracted long lines as attendees tested the app and watched baristas produce custom foam art. The experience underscored Google’s bet on agentic mobile and web apps.
Enterprise Success Stories: Toyota and Talabat Take the Stage
Abdallah Shaban, product lead for Flutter, highlighted two real-world wins: Toyota is using Flutter to revolutionize next-generation infotainment systems, and Talabat deploys the framework to scale across the Middle East.
“Toyota’s investment in Flutter for their core automotive UX shows that Flutter is ready for mission-critical environments,” Shaban said. “Talabat’s ability to innovate faster with Flutter proves that enterprise-grade development doesn’t have to sacrifice speed.”
The on-stage sessions included deep dives into generative UI and full-stack Dart, with live demos of Firebase Functions for Dart and the Partiful app — a UI generated entirely on the fly.

“We’re moving beyond chatbots to agents that build their own interfaces,” said Yegor Jbanov, a Flutter engineer who led the generative UI deep dive. “This is the next evolution of user experience.”
Developers can expect more announcements at Google I/O, where the full-stack Dart session and GenUI breakout will be recorded and released on the Flutter YouTube channel.
